This document will walk through how to troubleshoot click not working.
Part 1 - Check Ableton Routing
Part 2 - Check PlayAudio Routing
Part 3 - Check Click Switch Connections
Part 4 - Check Muting at the SD9
Part 1 - Check Ableton Routing
- Before anything else, you want to make sure that the PlayAudio 12 is selected as the audio output device in Ableton. To do this, go to preferences at the top. Then select the audio tab and ensure that "PlayAUDIO12" Is set as the Audio Output Device.
- The next thing to check inside of Ableton is the output of the click. You can do this by finding click on the right side of the session and making sure it is routed to output 9.
Part 2 - Check PlayAudio Routing
- Once you have confirmed that Ableton is correct. You will need to make sure that the PlayAudio is sending to the correct outputs at the proper levels. To do this, you will need to open the iConfig utility. If you don't have this installed, you can download it HERE.
- Under the "Audio Mixer" tab, ensure that all the faders for inputs and outputs are set to zero.
- Once that is confirmed, you will need to make sure the patching for the PlayAudio is correct. Everything is 1 to 1 and should match the picture below.
Part 3 - Check Click Switch Connections
- Below is a diagram of how your click switch should be connected.
Part 4 - Check Muting/Gain at the SD9
- The next possible option is that the input is muted or not gained up enough at the SD9. Confirm with your sound engineer that the click and Link^ click inputs are unmuted and gained up.
