Troubleshooting: ProPresenter 7 not outputting video to switcher.
In this article, we'll walk through various solutions in the event video signal from a CG is not being seen in the system.
Possible Issues
- Pro Presenter's output display is off or not configured
- The computer is not recognizing an external display
- The computer recognizes an external display however the configuration settings are incorrect
- The wrong converter is being used
- Cable or converter failure
Before moving on, it is always good practice to try these things to see if they resolve the issue:
- Inspect all cables to ensure they are fully connected.
- Verify the converters in use are receiving power.
If those steps do not resolve the issue, continue reading as we walk through how to identify and resolve the issues listed above.
Pro Presenter's output display is off or not configured
In the upper right of the Pro Presenter Interface, verify the Audience Output icon is green. If it is red, click "audience" to enable the output.
For instructions on configuring the Pro Presenter output, click HERE to watch a video walkthrough.
The computer is not recognizing an external display
Pro Presenter uses the secondary display function of the computer to output to another screen or device like a switcher. If the computer does not recognize another display device connected, Pro Presenter will not output. To verify if the computer sees the external display device, open Mac System Preferences and go to "Displays". If you do not see an "Arrangement" tab in the Display settings, the computer does not see another device connected to it. Skip to the last section of this article.
Once you are able to get the computer to see the external display device, quit and relaunch Resolume and your output should now be active. If not, continue along this document.
The computer recognizes an external display however the configuration settings are incorrect
Our standard video resolution settings are 1920x1080 (1080i) with a refresh rate of 60 Hertz.
Open the computer's display preferences, select Gather Windows in the bottom right, then verify the external display's settings are correct.
NOTE: If any changes are made while Pro Presenter is open, it is recommended to relaunch the application after changes are complete.
The wrong converter is being used
Most converters are designed to pass signal in only one direction. A converter for a CG is taking HDMI signal IN and passing it OUT through SDI.
Inspect the converter being used Ito verify it is processing signal in the proper direction. The unit will specify which connection is the "IN" and which is the "Out". (see example picture)
Cable or converter failure
It's not uncommon for a cable, converter, or power supply to fail. HDMI cables in particular are prone to damage easily. Try unplugging any adapters or HDMI cables connected to the computer and plugging them back in. It may also be necessary to swap out any converters and cables connected to the computer, as that may also be the cause of the issue.
If none of the above solutions have resolved the issue, try swapping items in the following order:
- HDMI cable between the CG and converter
- HDMI adapter connected to the converter
- SDI cable between the CG and switcher
- HDMI > SDI converter
- HDMI > SDI converter power supply
