Troubleshooting: Epix Strips / PixelBars not receiving signal from Resolume Arena
This troubleshooting guide is making the assumption that the proper midi faders are up, composition is proper, and you are seeing content in the output monitor and the master fader on resolume is turned up and content is still not sending to Epix/Pixelbars, this troubleshooting guide will walk you through the steps to ensure all settings are proper. This guide walks through the issues starting with the easiest solution that will then move on to possible larger issues.
Possible Causes
- Target IP not set in lumiverse
- Proper network adapter not selected
- IP address of the computer is not proper
- Lumiverse on the wrong universe
Possible Cause 1
The IP address if the particular driver you are using may not be assigned in the Target IP box, additionally, the IP address may be assigned. If there is no IP address or the IP address is greyed out, this means Resolume is not actually seeing the driver. There are some possible issue that could be contributing, but the easiest solution to check early is to confirm the proper network adapter is selected.
If the IP address is greyed out, check the following
-
Navigate to ARENA > PREFERENCES > DMX or press Ctrl + , then select DMX
-
At the bottom of the preferences pop up window in the dmx tab, check to ensure you are on the proper network adapter. There is a chance both network adapters are labeled the same, toggle to the other network adapter and then check IP, if same issue, toggle back to original network adapter. See image below.
- Reseat physical network adapter into the computer
Confirm cable run is a home run from CG3 to the driver (permanent campuses disregard this)
Possible Cause 2
CG3 will have two network adapters, one of them is connected to the internet and the other network adapter is set up to send artnet to the pixel driver. If the network adapter connected to the pixel driver is not set to the proper IP address, this will cause CG3 to not see the pixel driver. Good news, it is an easy fix.
- Navigate to the computer network settings
- Select the proper network adapter, this will have an IP address that is not within our network IP with the first octet beginning with either a 10. or a 2.
- The IP address should be at least 1 number off of the pixel driver. For example, if the IP address of the pixel driver is 2.0.155.201, the IP address of the network adapter should be set to 2.0.155.101 to allow the computer to talk to the pixel driver.
- Confirm that the subnet mask is set to 255.0.0.0
Possible Cause 3
One small setting that often gets overlooked is confirming that each lumiverse is set to the proper universe. If these are either not set, or set improperly, the pixel bars will either not output at all, or will output improperly.
- Confirm Lumiverse is outputting to the correct universe
*Universe configuration should go as follows
Lumiverse 1 = Universe 0
Lumiverse 2 = Universe 1
Lumiverse 3 = Universe 2
Lumiverse 4 = Universe 3
This configuration should be the same for each IP address Target IP.
Hopefully this article has resolved the issue, if not, please submit a tech support ticket for further assistance. Thank you!
