Troubleshoot: Jem Compact Pro hazer not outputting haze
This article will walk you through a few items you can check in the event your hazer decides not to work.
Possible Causes
- Improper DMX address
- Air Bubble in the system
A couple items to confirm is to ensure proper power and data is connected to the hazer. Additionally, the digital control panel screen should read DMX when properly connected, if the screen reads RDY, that means there is no valid DMX hitting the hazer.
Possible Cause 1
Sometimes the hazer can change address either by accident, or simply decides to reset itself. It is not uncommon, especially in a non-permanent context, for the address to be accidently changed when loading in or load out.
Check the address via the digital display located on the top of the machine
Address should be set to 510 or 509 - confirm with patch on the console.
Possible Cause 2
During the power cycle of these hazers, there is a cleaning cycle that the hazer will run either upon power up, or can be triggered by the user. These cleaning cycles can sometimes introduce air bubbles in the line that need to be forced out by running a PRME cycle. In addition to the cleaning cycle, simply having the hazer sit for long periods of time between use can also introduce air bubbles into the system.
-
Press MENU until you see PRME
-
Press the up or down button until you see a Y
This runs a prime cycle through the hazer forcing out any air bubbles that had formed, you will hear the pump running, see fluid being pulled through the hose, the fan kick on, and haze pour out of the front. These are all good things. The prime cycle will automatically stop after several seconds. You may need to run this cycle a couple of times before normal operation will resume.
Hopefully this article has resolved the issue, if not, please submit a tech support ticket for further assistance. Thank you!
