***IMPORTANT***
If you have never done this before, do not attempt to do so on your own, even with this document. There must be a trained individual on-site. If there is not, before proceeding, submit a Slack Tech Help Request. A member of the Tech Team will jump on a video call with you to ensure this setup is done correctly.
Part 1 - Overview of components
Generator
A generator is a portable solution allowing us to supply power to a venue. Some venues do not have an adequate power service installed so we pair a generator with a power distro to get the amount of power needed.
Three Phase Camlock Tails
Camlock tails have Camlock connectors on one end and bare copper on the other end. They are used to connect Camlock feeder cable to a generator. Three phase power consists of a ground, neutral, and three hot connections.
Part 2 - Pre setup checklist
Confirm the following before proceeding:
- The generator is powered off
- Camlock tails are in good condition
- Check both connectors and rubber shielding
Part 3 - Connecting tails
1. Strip back 1/2 inch of the rubber shielding from the copper end of each cable

2. With the generator powered off, open the side panel exposing the tie-in bolts

3. Loosen the bolts far enough to fit the copper ends

4. Place the copper ends underneath the bolts and tighten the bolts down securely. Ground (green) first, then neutral (white), followed by the hot connections (red, black, blue).

Note: It is always good to have a second person check your work. Even if it is a FaceTime with someone from the AVL team, you can never be too safe when dealing with this much electricity.
