Setting Up Your Laptop Overview A step-by-step guide to unboxing, logging in, and configuring your Mac laptop. Also covers the best practices like enabling Touch ID and MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication). Press the power button in the top-right of the keyboard. Pick your language and country, then sign into your Wi-Fi network. On the Remote Management screen, click "Enroll." Enter your Elevation-provided email, then press "Next." Select "Sign In with Password" if prompted, then type in the default password found inside your laptop box. Create a new personal Okta password when prompted.Please remember this password. These are your Staff Credentials and will be used to access a majority of applications. Once enrollment completes, select "Not now" on the Migration Assistant page. Create a new personal Mac password when prompted. This password is just to access your computer, but you'll need it to complete the setup process. Please remember this password. On the Touch ID screen, click "Continue," then gently rest and raise your finger on the Touch ID sensor, located on your Mac's power button. Repeat this until the setup process is completed. Application Setup When prompted to select your Default Web Browser, click "Use Chrome." Locate the "Staff Dashboard" application on your Dock or in Launchpad (it has a gold Apple logo with the Elevation logo inside). This application is a self-service portal to download and install specific Mac applications. Click "Install" underneath the Google Chrome icon to download any Google Chrome updates. Click "Install" underneath the Slack icon to download the Slack application. Locate the "Google Chrome" application on your Dock or in Launchpad. Click "Sign In" and enter your Elevation-provided email. This will bring you to Okta to sign in with your Okta Credentials (the one you set during your Mac setup process). After entering your Okta Credentials, press "Continue" on the popups to set your account as a Chrome Profile (this will allow you to sync bookmarks and other Chrome settings between devices). Okta Verify & MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) Setup Locate the "Okta Verify" application in Launchpad or in the Applications folder within Finder. Click "Get Started," enter our organization's sign-in URL, "myaccount.elevationchurch.org," and click "Next." This will open an Okta sign-in page in your browser. Sign in with your Okta Credentials (the one you set during your Mac setup process). Click "Enable" when prompted for Touch ID confirmation. This allows you to use Touch ID to sign into your Okta account. Locate the "Google Chrome" application on your Dock or in Launchpad and go to "myaccount.elevationchurch.org." This will bring you to your Okta Dashboard. Click on your name in the top right, then click "Settings" to open your account settings. Under "Security Methods" located on the right side of your screen scroll down till you see "Phone" and press the "Set Up" button next to it. Follow the prompts from Okta to setup your phone number with MFA. Once completed, you may close the tab in Google Chrome. Common Issues Forgotten Password If you've forgotten your Mac Password, please chat with an IT Support Engineer at the Tech Desk located at Matthews HQ. If you've forgotten your Okta Password, go to "myaccount.elevationchurch.org," enter your Elevation-provided email address, select "Forgot Password?" at the bottom of the panel, and follow the steps. If that fails, please Click Here to submit a ticket. No Wi-Fi Check that Wi-Fi is enabled in the MacOS "System Settings".
